Upcoming Shoot... The Excitement Builds...

So, things have been pretty crazy since I wrote last.

I made a personal goal to get published this year for Fashion Photography, which means cutting down on Wedding Photography this season. It's meant less money, but more time for detailed planning to make each shoot turns out as amazing as possible. My next shoot is February 2nd, and i have some amazing talent on board.

Vanessa with Nuclear Anatomy for makeup and hair, my good friend Sean Nana to assist, Viridianna Garcia (designer) making me bathing suits, and a secret element I'm not going to divulge here. No creativity jackers please. :)

Last but not least, my lovely model, Elizabeth. We met in person today and now I'm more excited than ever. She's gorgeous!

Keep an eye here for more shoot details and images. It's only days away!

The Undisputed Queen Of Last Minute Family Photos

The Untitled

So, it's been quite some time since I shot anything even remotely "fashion". Wedding season is worth every minute, but it sucks the creative juice out of me.

One benefit of working at Apple is the constant swarm of creative types, as well as faces to photograph. A friend of mine, Kurt, is tall, skinny, and clothing fits him like a dream, not to mention his fashion sense was pretty cool. Simple, but cool. He consented to let me photograph him, and we spent hours shooting. When I got all my film back, I was heartbroken.

For all personal projects, especially fashion, I shoot film and only film. The Yashica 635 took beautiful photos: soft light, beautiful grain, all with manual controls. I shot 2 rolls of film through the beast. The MAJORITY of the shots, however, were shot through the F100, my 35mm lovely. Unfortunately, the last time i used the F100, I had pushed a roll of 800 ISO film to 3200 ISO - and forgot to ever change the settings back. And because I thought the camera was set to DX, I NEVER bothered to check the ENTIRE SHOOT. So when I got my negatives back, all I had were pitch black scans, if they'd even scan at all.

Needless to say, Kurt's disappointment was 10 times worse than my, so the idea of a reshoot seemed grim. But, we both sucked it up and shot again, and the images came out BEAUTIFULLY. Click any of the images below to see the full res Flickr set. Enjoy! it was worth the trouble. :)

A Day at the Beach With Brendan & Siblings

So today I met up with my friend Brendan from Apple to photograph he and his siblings for his Mom's upcoming B-Day. A friggin' cute family combined with good light provided for some great images.

I am going to remix the best shots in B&W for the final project; I'll post those once they're done.

I'll probably consider offering family photos this season. We shall see....
